The A.N.Audio Story
A.N. Audio first began in the year of 1974. This was the dream of Michael Luckman, father to the two managing directors: Andrew Luckman, and Mark Luckman.
At the very beginning, the company began trading equipment at the then family home, Longsands Road, St. Neots. The inspiration for the company name A.N. Audio came from Michael’s business travels to Japan, via ANA (All Nippon Airways) and they began selling superb Japanese products, from manufacturers including, Sansui, Trio, Aiwa, Sony and JVC. Michael visited prospective customers with product catalogues – many of the new customers being existing recommendations.
From this business grew, and soon became in dire need for an extension to the family home for display and demonstration of audio products. In those days, demand was for stereo record players, amplifiers, cassette decks and speakers. During the late ‘70’s business grew steadily and reached a point where they could no longer trade from home. The shop moved to 66 Huntingdon Street, which is now the ‘Codfathers’ fish and chip shop.
Back then, A.N. Audio rented the property from the council, and Michael’s wife, Maureen Luckman, managed the shop. As the business developed, more staff were employed and popular brands like Panasonic & Technics appointed A.N. Audio as area agents assuring exponential growth of sales. The business then moved to renting 46 Market Square, St. Neots. The premises had a larger floor space and so retail expanded into TV’s and video sales (a high demand market in its beginning stages). The two sons, Andrew and Mark joined the company working full time, Andrew in servicing, and Mark in sales.
Business expanded, and in the mid ‘90’s A.N. Audio moved to purchasing 34 Huntingdon Street, St Neots where it remains to this day. We have seen many fashion changes and many sales are increasingly more complex, with modern technology. Our experienced staff can help customers find the right system for their needs, and A.N. Audio has the experience, capacity, knowledge and expertise to supply, deliver and install.
